It was another stellar night for the Hain Train at Edgbaston.
And whilst the Bears fell short against Derbyshire Falcons on Wednesday night, Hain remains the talk of the town.
Firing 79* off just 36 balls (nine fours, three sixes), Hain moved his average up to 191 with 382 runs from seven innings. Staggeringly, the 27-year-old has only been dismissed twice, scoring important innings of 83*, 65*, 48* and 97* before last night.
“I feel like I’m playing well at the moment, but every time you go out there you start on zero. I’ve got an idea of how I want to play T20 cricket and I’m just really clear at the crease and the options I want to take at the right time.
“Partnerships are key in this format and I thought Dan Mousley really helped me. I love batting with him. Chris Woakes came in and gave me a little bit of momentum tonight that I was able to feed off. Then I felt like I was able to go through the gears a little bit quicker with someone else at the other end.”
Speaking of the Bears six-wicket defeat, Hain added: “It’s a tough game, to sum up. I said last time, it takes me a while to debrief games like that. It sort of ebbed and flowed, more than usual, and 74 for four off the ten and then getting to 200 we’re very pleased.
“It was a great wicket with a couple of short sides and Leus du Plooy played a fantastic innings. We’ve got a few hours here to dust ourselves down, pick ourselves up, remember the good stuff that we’re doing, learn from the not-so-good stuff and put it right on Friday.”
