Hassan Ali admits Warwickshire will always hold a special place in his heart as he describes the Club as his ‘second home’.

The Pakistan international left for Karachi on Sunday after receiving a Test call-up ahead of their series in Sri Lanka, cutting short his agreement to stay until end of July.

The right-armer’s selection was rightly justified, having taken 33 wickets in 11 matches across the LV= Insurance County Championship and Vitality Blast, but the 29-year-old will be missed greatly at Edgbaston.

Hassan’s personality in the dressing room, as well as his keenness to support his peers and the local community, showcased a consummate professional who was highly regarded by the squad.

“The boys have always showed love to me and encouraged me,” said Hassan. “I feel I’m playing in my second home and I’m very comfortable in the dressing room. I didn’t feel like I’m playing in another country or another franchise.

“I would love to come back if I got the opportunity outside of my national commitments. I’ve been here for three months and I would say this is one of the best teams I’ve played with. The environment is good, we are playing brilliant cricket whether that’s four day or T20, and the boys are so talented. I have seen a couple of guys who can represent England in the future and I’m going to miss them.

“I’ll always remember this opportunity.”

Before his departure, Hassan was awarded his White Bear Cap ahead of the Bears win against Notts Outlaws by Club Captain Will Rhodes.

The decision showed the gratitude and contribution Hassan has made since arriving.

“I was surprised and I didn’t know,” added Hassan. “You can see the excitement on my face and the moment was a real honour to get my Bears cap and become an official player. I feel I have impressed the team management and all the players.

“I remember when I arrived here and after two games I said you’re going to present me with a cap. I’m really happy that’s come true.”
