Wicket-keeper Michael Burgess has signed a new contract extension to keep him at the Bears until at least the end of the 2024 season.
The 29-year-old, who lifted both the County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy in 2021, has become a senior figure within the changing room, having been capped in the same year.
Arriving on loan from Sussex in 2019, Burgess made the move permanent soon after, signing a two-year extension in 2021.
Since becoming a Bear, the right-hander has made 101 appearances across all formats, firing 2,998 runs with three centuries in red ball cricket.
Behind the stumps, Burgess has excelled with spectacular catches, whilst standing up to the seamers. In total, the Surrey native has taken 177 catches in all formats, plus 19 stumpings.
“I’m delighted to have extended my stay at the club,” said Burgess. “Since arriving, Edgbaston has become home and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved in recent years.
“Winning the double in 2021 was my career highlight and I hope we can keep pushing for future success in all formats this year and in the near future.”
First Team Coach Mark Robinson added: “Michael has become a valuable member of the squad and I’m pleased he’s extended his stay with the club.
“Michael is a very good ‘keeper, who also adds power to our line-up, and I know he’s extremely keen to help bring more silverware to Warwickshire.”
