More than 300 people gathered at Edgbaston to celebrate Warwickshire’s End of Season Player Awards and the achievements of the Club’s men’s, women’s, seniors and disability sides.
Olly Hannon-Dalby, Ed Barnard and Sam Hain were the night’s main winners, sharing six awards between them.
OHD was named Players’ Player of the Year, his 54 red ball wickets saw him claim County Championship Player of the Year and he also won the Rick Coleman Community Award for his off-field volunteering.
Ed Barnard collected the One Day Cup Player of the Year and Performance of the Year for his century in the competition’s crucial final group game at Sussex.
Sam Hain – the Bears leading T20 run scorer – collected Vitality Blast Player of the Year.
There were also awards for over-60s and 70s player Dave Swinburn – who won the Alan Oakman Award for best Seniors player, having scored 860 runs during the season – and Yasir Ghalib and Louis Blair from the Club’s Disability Access team.
Warwickshire Chief Executive Stuart Cain, said: “It’s fantastic to welcome so many players, Members, and commercial partners to Edgbaston this evening after what’s been another memorable year of cricket. We’ve seen some amazing team and individual performances, plenty of drama, and the return of the Men’s and Women’s Ashes.
“Before a ball was bowled this season, we set ourselves the objective of being in a position to win in all three tournaments.
“We did that, with one of the best win ratios in the game: 11 out of 14 Vitality Blast games, seven out of eight in the One Day Cup and six out of 14 County Championship games.
“Our Player Awards Dinner is about celebrating those achievements, plus the efforts of our other teams and staff who together epitomize what it means to be a proud Bear.”
The awards evening – which was sponsored by Birmingham-based fashion brand House of Cavani – was also a fundraising event for the Edgbaston Foundation, with more than £1,000 being raised for charity.
Performance Director Gavin Larsen, added: “It’s been a fantastic summer of cricket and the awards event celebrates the achievements of the men’s, women’s, seniors, and disability sides. I’ve not yet been here a year but I’m quickly getting to appreciate what it means to be a Bear and I’m proud to be a part of it.
“The men’s team had a good year and while not lifting a trophy we’ve made progress. The margins in elite sport can be very fine and we saw that during the agonizing knock-out stages of both the Vitality Blast and One Day Cup.
“I’m confident we can build on the campaigns and bridge the gap to bringing silverware back to Edgbaston soon.”
