Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup Report: Bears v Outlaws
Michael Booth took four for 24 from his allotted four overs and Chris Benjamin added a half-century as the Bears secured a dominant nine-wicket victory in the Abu Dhabi Counties Super Cup final.
Winning the toss and choosing to bowl, Alex Davies’ side got straight to work, taking regular wickets and restricting boundaries throughout the innings.
The Outlaws were 31 four four after the powerplay, 40 for five at the halfway stage, and 99 all out after 18.3 overs.
Booth, given the Player of the Match after the game, got the rewards, but wickets were shared around to Olly Hannon-Dalby (2), Ed Barnard, Jacob Bethell, Jake Lintott and Craig Miles.
Chasing 100, the Bears made light work of the task, reaching the total in 8.1 overs.
Opener Davies departed with 11 from six balls, but young bucks Benjamin (55) and Bethell (28) took on the mantle with a 76-run partnership off 32 balls.
After the game there were joyous scenes as the players, alongside Chief Executive Stuart Cain and Performance Director Gavin Larsen, celebrated the trophy in front of the Bears fans who travelled.
The Bears will now enjoy a day of rest before turning their attentions to red ball cricket.
The squad will train on Tuesday and play a two-day match against Yorkshire before flying back to Edgbaston with the trophy on Friday.
