Alex Davies hopes the Bears 26-run victory over Yorkshire Vikings is a sign of things to come.

Led by the Club Captain who struck 96 (41 balls, 10×4, 6×6), the Bears blitzed their way to 222 for five after winning the toss before defending the total amid some power hitting from Will Luxton.

“Two from two now, which is always great, but more importantly than the results we’ve played the kind of cricket we want to play,” said Davies. “We want to be aggressive with the bat and score as many as we can. I think we potentially could have even got a little bit more today, but 222 is a good score against anyone on any pitch. We also did a professional job with the ball and got the job done.

Speaking of his own performance he added: “As Captain you’ve got to to deliver the message that you’re given to the boys and lead by example. It came off alright today, but I’m sure it won’t every day.”

Following the win, it was confirmed that the Bears will face Notts Outlaws in a Midlands rivalry at the Tolerance Oval.

The two teams, who will go head-to-head in Blast Off this year, have had some titanic tussles over the years.

“I said in my chat with you a couple of days ago, we want to win every game we play,” Davies concluded. “There will be a bit of change in personnel to try and get the lads who have not had as much cricket out there to try and get some.

“I like to think we’re still a strong team no matter who plays, but with the bowlers we need to manage their workloads. They’ve bowled a lot this trip and it’s a long season, so don’t want to risk injuring some of them too soon. Nevertheless, we have a lot of good players and we’re confident that we can we can win this thing.”
