Brian Lara is set to return to Edgbaston for a special Anniversary Dinner marking 30 years since the Bears historic 1994 treble winning season and the West Indies’ legend’s record innings of 501.

He’ll be joined by other heroes of ’94 including Tim Munton – the Club’s leading first class wicket taker that season with 81 – Captain Dermot Reeve, Gladstone Small, Andy Moles, Neil Smith and many more.

The historic event will take place on the evening of Wednesday 5 June with a champagne reception at 6.15pm.

Players will take part in panel chats with Nick Knight and the evening will be hosted by another former Bears favorite Charles Dagnall.

Tim Munton is helping organize the dinner. He’s looking forward to the historic reunion and sharing time with teammates from 1994 and 1995.

He said: “It will be a very special night for all involved in that amazing period for the Club, players, coaches and Members. I hope lots of Bears fans and Members will be able to join us on the night to celebrate and reminisce.

“We never get tired of recalling memories from the summers of 1994 and ’95. It was a privilege to be part of that era at the Club, we created very special friendships on and off the field and a legacy that’s still talked about today.

“It’s particularly special that Brian is able to join us on what will be the eve of the 30th anniversary of his momentous world record score of 501.

“Many of the players have kept in touch with Brian and meet up around the world but this is a rare occasion for us all to be together again at Edgbaston. I know Brian is looking forward to being with his teammates and the many friends he made during his time here..

“There are a number players and coaches from 1994 and 1995 who sadly are no longer with us but we will definitely be remembering them all, and raise a glass to them.

“We are also delighted to be raising money on the night for two good causes. Firstly for WOCCA, which supports former Bears who need help and support in their lives after cricket, and the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation, a charity which works to provide sporting opportunities for all in Warwickshire and the West Midlands.”

Bears won the first of their three trophies in 1994 by defeating local rivals Worcestershire in the Benson & Hedges Cup final at Lord’s on 9 July 1994.

The County Championship title followed – Warwickshire winning 11 of 17 games with Lara hitting six centuries in his first seven innings – before completing the treble by topping the Axa Equity & Law League table.

Other Warwickshire greats from the trophy winning teams of 1995 – including Allan Donald – 1989, 1993, 1997, 2002 and 2004 will also attend the dinner which is being run by events management specialists Champions UK plc.

The ’94 Anniversary Dinner starts at 6.15pm with a champagne reception followed by a three-course meal served in the Banqueting Hall.
