Mark Robinson is pleased with how his team are travelling after their fourth rain-affected draw on the season.
The Bears were once again frustrated by rain and gloomy skies as the poor weather continued to haunt the county game.
But speaking after the game at Edgbaston, Robinson was keen to praise his side’s ‘skill and character with the bat’.
After losing the toss, the hosts battled in difficult conditions over the weekend to ensure they remain unbeaten, picking up 14 more points and moving to third in the table.
“We’ve took some hits as the season’s gone on,” said Robinson. “Sam [Hain] went down on the first game of the season, Liam [Norwell] on the first morning of the season, and Boothy and Rushy after the first game of the season.
“We’ve took some punches and even more in this game too. We lost the toss, it was a good one to win from Notts’ point of view, as they batted in a lot of sunshine. When the clouds came over and the lights came on we took wickets, but we were on the wrong side of an outstanding innings. It was probably the highlight of the match from Ben Duckett. It was like he was playing in different light and on a different pitch to everyone else.
“But Saturday and Sunday were horrible and we showed great character and skill. Ed Barnard and Dan Mousley first, then Jacob Bethell, and a bit of Briggsy to get us to calmer waters today when it was nicer batting conditions.
“We’d have got 400 today, but we got out trying to slog it for those extra points.”
