Big-hitting England all-rounder Liam Livingstone will take centre stage at Edgbaston this summer after being confirmed as Birmingham Phoenix men’s captain in The Hundred.
Livingstone, who has made Edgbaston his home since the start of The Hundred, is Birmingham Phoenix men’s highest ever run-scorer with 755 runs and has also hit 52 sixes – the most by any player in the competition’s history.
He takes over as skipper from Birmingham-born Moeen Ali who recently announced his retirement from domestic cricket.
Liam Livingstone said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be named as Birmingham Phoenix captain this year. Edgbaston has been my home ground from the start of The Hundred and the support we’ve received over the first four years has been fantastic. Moeen has done a brilliant job so far and I hope to carry on where he left off to take this team forward.
“The squad is looking in great shape with a mixture of local lads in Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley as well as international quality with Ben Duckett and the New Zealand pace attack. We’ll be doing all we can to bring that trophy home to Birmingham for the first time this summer and entertain our fans with some exciting cricket.”

Alongside Livingstone, Australian superstar all-rounder Ellyse Perry will continue to captain Birmingham Phoenix’s women’s team for the 2025 season.
Birmingham Phoenix’s 2025 campaign gets underway at Edgbaston on Friday 8 August with one of the biggest games in The Hundred fixture schedule – a fiercely fought derby against local rivals Trent Rockets.
Livingstone’s men’s team will be looking to go one better this year, after reaching The Hundred Eliminator in 2024, while the women’s team will be looking to build momentum under Perry and new head coach Ali Maiden.
