Warwickshire have signed combative seamer Adam Sylvester for the rest of the season following a successful trial spell at the Club.
Fast-medium pace bowler Sylvester – who previously played for Derbyshire – has impressed in three Second XI T20s this month in which he’s claimed seven wickets.
That included an aggressive spell in Newport against his boyhood club Glamorgan – he sent stumps flying with four for 31 in his four overs – plus the scalp of Will Smeed, one of two wickets he took in Taunton.
The 25-year-old spent time trialling with Kent’s Second XI last summer where he took a T20 five-fer against Middlesex.
He’s determined to put in more strong performances for the Bears and push for opportunities in the senior side.
“I couldn’t be happier to sign for this massive Club,” said Sylvester, who is from Glamorgan.
“It’s a really proud day for me and my family. It’s been a long, hard journey for me into professional cricket so for Warwickshire to give me this chance is something I’m hugely grateful for.
“I’ve done OK in the Seconds and shown what I can do with a few wickets. I want to continue putting in good performances for the Bears and stake a claim for the first eleven.”

Warwickshire High Performance Manager Paul Greetham said Sylvester had impressed in the 2nd XI red ball matches so far and the recent T20s.
“We’ve got to know him over a number of games, it’s not been a one-off trial,” added Greetham. He’s spent time at Kent and Matt Walker (Bears Batting Coach and former Kent Head Coach) who suggested he was well worth a look.
“He’s executed his plans well in the T20s and has shown calmness under pressure.
“Adam has lively pace and bowls with character, he’s a real competitor who likes to be in the battle. There’s a lot to like and I think he can do a good job for us in all formats.”
