Warwickshire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce that rising star Taz Ali has signed a new long-term contract, keeping him at Edgbaston Stadium until 2027.

The 19-year-old leg-spinner enjoyed an impressive break-out 2025 season, taking back-to-back five-fors in the Bears’ Metro Bank One Day Cup victories against Northamptonshire and Kent in August.

Ali was born in Amsterdam but earned his maiden England Under-19s call-up for the 2024 World Cup, where he took 14 wickets at 9.64 and finished as the side’s highest wicket-taker.

He returned to the England Under-19s set-up at the start of 2025 to play in two tests against South Africa, where he took eight wickets including match figures of 6-129 in the first test.

Ali said: “I am delighted to commit my future to the Bears for the next two years.

“I feel like there is no better place to develop than at the Bears. We have a great group of players with some incredible experience, and the coaching and performance staff have been a huge help to me already in my career.

“I hope I can continue to improve and have an impact on the pitch to help bring success to the Bears in years to come.”

James Thomas, Performance Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: “Taz is one of the most exciting young talents in English cricket. His hunger to improve and push his game to the next level reflects our ambition to inspire the next generation and compete for success across all formats.

“He delivered two match-winning five-wicket hauls in the 2025 Metro Bank One Day Cup and continues to show a real commitment to evolving his skills. We’re excited about his future and confident he will play a key role in driving on-field success for the Bears in the years ahead.”
