Birmingham Phoenix are pleased to announce the signing of South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira ahead of the 2026 season of The Hundred, further strengthening the men’s squad with one of the most exciting short-format players in world cricket.

Ferreira, 27, joins Phoenix as a powerful middle-order batter and athletic wicketkeeper, renowned for his explosive hitting and ability to change games in a matter of deliveries. A proven performer across global franchise leagues, Ferreira has established himself as a high-impact finisher, ideally suited to the fast-paced Hundred format having won the competition in each of the last two seasons with MI London.

The right-hander has also enjoyed standout success in T20 cricket, scoring runs at a strike rate consistently above 150, with multiple match-winning innings across franchise competitions. His ability to clear the boundary with ease, particularly at the death, has made him one of the most feared finishers in the game.

Ferreira has also represented South Africa in international white-ball cricket, adding further experience and composure under pressure. His versatility, offering wicketkeeping flexibility alongside elite batting firepower, provides Phoenix with valuable balance and tactical options.

“The Hundred is a unique and highly competitive competition, and the chance to play for the Birmingham Phoenix is a fantastic opportunity,” he said. “I’ve tasted success in the last two years in the Hundred, and I would love to win it three years in a row, so hopefully I can contribute to a strong season for the Phoenix.”

Phoenix Men’s Head Coach Shane Bond said: “Donovan is exactly the kind of player who can make a huge impact in this format. He brings real power and versatility, and his ability to finish innings is among the best in the game. We’re delighted to welcome him to Phoenix and believe he’ll be a major asset to our campaign.”

Ferreira’s signing adds further firepower to Birmingham Phoenix as the men’s side continues to assemble a dynamic squad capable of challenging at the top of The Hundred in 2026. His signing means Phoenix Men have added a full complement of retentions and direct signings in the winter window, joining Rehan Ahmed, Jacob Bethell and Mitch Owen.

Supporters are encouraged to secure their seats early, with Phoenix Passes now available for the upcoming season at Edgbaston.
