Warwickshire Women entertain Durham Women at Edgbaston Stadium on Wednesday 6 May, looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. Here are the details…
Bears’ form guide (last three)
W-L-W
The Bears return to action looking to make it back-to-back victories in the One Day Cup for the first time this season. Having picked up their first win of the season with a five-wicket win against Essex, a three-wicket loss in a high scoring fixture against current table toppers The Blaze followed, before they returned to winning ways last time out in another run-fest, this time against Somerset.
The team’s form with the bat can’t be questioned. In their five outings so far this season, the Bears have amassed more than 300 runs in all but one of them, and they have registered three of the five highest scores in the competition to date.
Three in focus
Charis Pavely
What a start to the season it has been for the 21-year-old. The left hander recorded her maiden hundred in the three-wicket loss to The Blaze before smashing a second ton in four days last time out against Somerset. In five matches this season, Pavely has amassed 345 runs at an average of 115.
Alexa Stonehouse
Alexa Stonehouse made a telling contribution with both bat and ball at the weekend against Somerset. With the bat, she was part of an eighth wicket stand with Pavely, where the duo hit 93 off 63 balls to help the side to a mammoth 336. In Somerset’s reply, Stonehouse set the tone early, picking up the wicket of opener Ruby Davis before taking two more wickets to end the match with figures of 3-70 from 9.4 overs.
Tahlia Wilson (Durham)
A career-best 152 from 163 balls from Tahlia Wilson helped Durham to an impressive victory over Essex at the beginning of the season. The Australian opener has had several starts since but has yet to produce another match-winning contribution, so could be due a score at Edgbaston. It’s been a year to remember already for Wilson, as she made her Women’s One Day International debut back in March.
Opposition insight
Durham have endured a difficult start to the 2026 campaign but have shown plenty of signs of a return to form in recent weeks. Their sole victory came against Essex early on in the season, but they came agonisingly close to a second win last week. Set a daunting 291 to win, Durham had to settle for a thrilling draw following a counter-attacking 100 not out from Phoebe Turner. They will arrive at Edgbaston hoping to push the Bears all the way.
Previous meetings
The Bears and Durham played out a mid-season classic the last time the teams met in 2025, with Durham eventually getting over the line, winning by three wickets with three overs remaining at Seat Unique Riverside.
Contributions from Davina Perrin (32), Katie George (42), Issy Wong (32) and a first Bears 50 from Pavely (57) saw the Bears set the hosts 244 for victory. Durham’s reply got off to a great start, with Suzie Bates combining with skipper Hollie Armitage for a partnership worth 105, however quick wickets from the Bears put the game in the balance. Mady Villiers’ maiden List A fifty for Durham secured victory for her side.
The second fixture between the two sides in 2025 was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
