Rob Yates is hoping to help Warwickshire to a third home win of the season when they entertain Glamorgan at Edgbaston Stadium in the Rothesay County Championship this week.
The opening batsman scored 81 in the Bears’ second innings of their dominant 377-run win against Yorkshire earlier this week, a result that saw Warwickshire climb to second place in the table.
Ahead of this week’s game against in-form Glamorgan, which takes place from Friday 15 May to Monday 18 May, Yates is hoping his side can continue in the same vein.
“Lots of different people have been chipping in at different times which is nice,” he said.
“Naturally, every game we’re going to look to win it, so to add a third one here, and a third before the break, would be huge for momentum.
“There’s a real togetherness about the group and real clarity in terms of each and everyone’s roles. We’re blessed with a battery of seam bowlers too.”
Glamorgan arrive at Edgbaston having won back-to-back games in the Rothesay County Championship, results that have seen them move just five points behind the Bears in the table.
Yates has been pleased with his form so far this season, which has merited 332 runs at an average of 90 so far, however is expecting a tough test this week.
“I haven’t played Glamorgan for a long time in four-day cricket, but they seem a good outfit,” he added.
“They will be full of confidence after a good win last week, and they’ve got a lot of dangerous players. I’m excited for the battle that comes.
“I’m feeling really good with the bat at the moment. I’ve been happy with it so far, but it would be nice to add a few three figure scores to it.”
Play gets under way at 11:00am on Friday, with the teams set to be announced at the toss.
