Warwickshire Bears opening bowler Alexa Stonehouse is looking forward to returning to Trent Bridge, as the Bears target a first win of the 2026 Vitality Blast when they take on The Blaze on Friday 5 June.
The Bears lost a back-and-forth contest against The Blaze at Edgbaston Stadium less than ten days ago, with the visitors chasing 159 for victory with just four balls left of their innings.
Stonehouse, who has extensive experience of playing at Trent Bridge having represented Trent Rockets in The Hundred since 2022, is expecting another tough test from a Blaze side that have won three of their opening four games in this year’s T20 competition.
“I quite like Trent Bridge as it’s where I made both my debuts, at county level and in the Hundred,” she said.
“They are a really good side, and it will be tough, but if we all stick to what we know and be sharp in the field, I feel like we have a good chance.”
Stonehouse, who is on loan from Surrey, spearheads the Bears attack and produced her best spell of the Blast season against Durham last week.
The left arm quick conceded 15 runs in her four overs, taking the wicket of Durham opener Hollie Armitage in the process.
After a week break between fixtures, Stonehouse says after a difficult period, she’s heading into the Bears’ next game with plenty of confidence as the team look to pick up a first win of the campaign.
“I was quite happy with how I bowled,” she added. “I’ve had a tough time bowling lately, but it was nice to get that performance under my belt. It’s brought a bit of confidence back.
“I feel like everyone’s raring to go as we’ve had a week without a game. Everyone has a clear mindset, so hopefully we can show what we can really do.”
Warwickshire Bears Women take on The Blaze at Trent Bridge on Friday 5 June, starting at 2:30pm.
