Warwickshire Men and Women both travel to Taunton to take on Somerset in a blockbuster doubleheader on Sunday 7 June.

Here’s what you need to know…

Previous meetings

Just over two weeks ago, both Bears’ teams took on Somerset as part of Blast Off at Edgbaston Stadium. On that occasion it was Somerset that came out on top, winning both games by seven wickets.

In the men’s game, James Rew’s 93 for Somerset off just 48 deliveries proved to be the key, as the visitors chased down 189 with ten balls remaining.

The women’s game, an unbeaten 60 off 49 balls from Anika Learoyd saw Somerset over the line, after Sophie Luff had struck 58 from just 33 balls to start their chase of 166.

Current form

Both Bears’ teams are searching for their first win of the season, after both narrowly missed out on forcing a positive result last time out against Notts Outlaws and The Blaze respectively.

Women’s Head Coach, Ali Maiden, said after their loss to The Blaze that the team are working hard to put things right: “I think we’ve improved again from the last game that we played, and that’s all we can do really, is keep trying to get better.”

Meanwhile Men’s Head Coach, Ian Westwood, is challenging his side to respond to their latest set back with points against Somerset: “Unfortunately, at this stage, nearly is not good enough for us. We need the points.”

Somerset Men are the current holders of the Vitality Blast, winning in 2025 for the second time in three years, and are bidding to become the first team in the competition’s history to win back-to-back Blast crowns. Having won their first two games in 2026, they’ve lost their last three, and will be looking to bounce back on Sunday.

Somerset Women have been much-improved from last season, and have won three of their last four outings. Last time out, they successfully chased 153 in a nail-biting finish against Surrey at The Oval.
