Warwickshire Bears Women travel to the Utilita Bowl to take on Hampshire in the latest round of Metro Bank One Day Cup fixtures.

It’s set to be an intriguing battle, with Hampshire currently sitting second in the table, with the Bears fourth and looking to close the gap.

Here’s all you need to know before play gets under way at 10:30am on Wednesday 24 June…

Bears’ form guide (last three)

W-W-L

Bears Women had won three games in a row prior to their last outing, where they fell to a seven-wicket defeat against Somerset. Batting first, Warwickshire were bowled out for 160 having been well-set at 150 for two, before Somerset eased to their total, three down.

That came after a 20-run win the week before against Lancashire, thanks to classy centuries from both Meg Austin and Katie George, and impressive left arm spin bowling from Phoebe Brett (three for 42) and Charis Pavely (four for 54).

The Bears will be hoping to return to winning ways against Hampshire, as they look to close the gap to the top two in the table.

Three in focus

Phoebe Brett
At only 18-years-old, Phoebe Brett has opened the bowling in the last two Bears games, taking three wickets against Lancashire to help the side to victory. With warm weather in the build up to the game against Hampshire, a dry pitch could mean more turn for the left-arm spinner.

Katie George
Katie George has looked in great touch since returning to the team following injury. A stunning century in her first game back against Lancashire was followed with 31 off 33 balls against Somerset. George will be hoping for more of the same against a team she spent six years with at the beginning of her career.

Maia Bouchier
It’s hard to ignore the form of Maia Bouchier. The destructive opening batter has four scores of 50 or more in her last four games across 20-over and 50-over cricket. Scores of 87 and 74* came in the final T20 games before the break, and she’s carried that into the One Day Cup with scores of 50 and 136*.

Opposition insight

Hampshire are one of the form teams in the competition and come into the fixture with Warwickshire having won four of their last five games to close the gap on once runaway leaders The Blaze.

The Southampton-based Club topped the One Day Cup table in 2025 before going on to lose out to Lancashire in the final. They’re in a strong position to return to the knockout rounds after impressing so far this term.

In their last outing against Essex they knocked off 245 without losing a wicket to surge to a ten-wicket triumph. Bex Tyson was the pick of the bowlers, taking three for 66, before Ella McCaughan (104*) and Maia Bouchier (136*) both struck unbeaten hundreds.

They have several high-quality operators in their team, however Bouchier, with 466 runs at an average of 77 in the competition, and McCaughan, who is averaging 52, the standouts so far.

Previous meetings

The last time the teams met in 50-over cricket was back in April, but the weather had other ideas, with play abandoned for the day before Hampshire had the opportunity to reply to Warwickshire’s innings.

It was a frustrating end to what could have been the perfect day for the Bears after they amassed their highest total of the 2026 Metro Bank One Day Cup so far.

Half-centuries from each player in the top five powered Warwickshire to 354 for seven, after they were put in by visiting captain Georgia Adams at Edgbaston. Davina Perrin struck 81 from 76 balls, Charis Pavely 63 not out, Katie George 56, Meg Austin 51 and Amu Surenkumar 51.

The teams played out two thrillers in 2025. The first, at Edgbaston, ended in a draw after Bears skipper Georgia Davis was run out off the final ball of the innings. In the reverse fixture, an unbeaten 94 from Abbey Freeborn wasn’t enough for the Bears, as Hampshire won by three wickets.
