The Hundred is now just a month away, with Birmingham Phoenix getting their campaign under way against Trent Rockets in a home doubleheader at Edgbaston Stadium on Friday 24 July.
Following the success of the first ever The Hundred auction, where Birmingham Phoenix compiled two outstanding teams for the 2026 season, we’re taking a look at the current form of some of the stars set to wear black and coral this summer.
Mustafizur Rahman

The Phoenix swooped to seal the signing of Rahman for £100,000 in the auction, and he’ll arrive in Birmingham next month after making a blistering start to 2026. The left-arm pace bowler was key to Bangladesh’s success in their recent ODI series against Australia, taking two for 24 in the first match and three for 27 in the next, as Bangladesh sealed a two-one series victory. Before that, in April, Bangladesh won a three-match ODI series against New Zealand by the same margin, with Rahman taking 5 for 43 in the third and deciding match.
Alice Capsey

Signed for £130,000 in the auction, Alice Capsey will be vital to Birmingham Phoenix’s success during The Hundred this year. A regular in international cricket for England, Capsey is currently representing her country in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and scored 40 at the top of the order in the team’s latest victory over Scotland. Prior to the World Cup starting, Capsey scored 82 against India and 45 against Australia in back-to-back warm-up games.
Chris Wood

Another left-arm pace bowler, Chris Wood has also enjoyed a fast start to the 2026 season. He’s impressed in the Vitality Blast for Hampshire, taking ten wickets in six starts at an average of 19.50 and helping his side to five wins in their last five starts in the competition. In their last outing, he took three for 32 as Hampshire beat Surrey at The Oval.
Ellyse Perry

One of the most complete players in world cricket, Birmingham Phoenix made sure of Ellyse Perry’s return to the team for a third successive season by signing her for £100,000 at the auction. In this year’s Big Bash League, Perry ended the campaign as the fourth leading run scorer with 412 runs coming at an average of 51.50. She’s carried that form into the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup too, scoring 71 not out in her last outing for Australia as they triumphed over Pakistan.
Scott Currie

Bowling all-rounder Scott Currie commanded one of the biggest fees in The Hundred auction, with the Phoenix eventually getting their man for £210,000. A tall pace bowler, Currie is one of the leading wicket-takers in the 2026 Vitality Blast having taken 12 wickets in six games so far. Those wickets have come at an outstanding average of 12.16, and includes career-best figures in the Blast of four for 18, while his economy rate of 6.34 is also one of the best in the competition so far this year.
Jemima Spence

Jemima Spence could prove to be one of the signings of The Hundred auction after the Phoenix snapped her up for £37,500. The wicketkeeper-batsman has found form in recent weeks, hitting back-to-back 50s in the Vitality Blast, before adding a third 50 in as many games by scoring 59 for Surrey in the Metro Bank One Day Cup. She’s currently the sixth highest run-scoring in the Blast with 179 runs from six games, averaging 44.75 in the process.
