Second XI Report: Warwickshire v Somerset
Ed Pollock showed his destructive batting prowess as Warwickshire Second XI beat Somerset Second XI with four sessions to spare at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
Pollock, who was captain, struck 125 from 94 balls (18 fours, six sixes) in the first innings before adding a T20 style 60* from 25 balls (Three fours, seven sixes) to earn a ten-wicket victory.
Choosing to bowl first, George Furrer and Matt Davison both took four wickets as the Bears restricted a strong Somerset side to 203.
In their reply, Ethan Brookes (78), Oliver Hannon-Dalby (career-best 51) and Tim Ambrose (38) added solid contributions to Pollock’s century as the Bears were bowled out for 336, earning a 133 lead.
The visitors reached 44 for one at the end of day two when bad light stopped play but they were bowled out just after lunch the following day.
Henry Brookes, who didn’t feature in the opening two days, took three wickets as did Craig Miles, setting Ian Westwood’s side 93 runs to win.
Any slow progress was quickly dashed however as the hosts knocked off the total in 6.3 overs.
Liam Banks’ 33* from 14 balls (five fours, one six) was overshadowed by the Barnt Green opener who had reached his half-century off just 18 balls (two fours, seven sixes) in 27 minutes.
