Second XI Championship Report: Kent v Warwickshire
The paceman, who has been kept waiting for his senior Bears debut by a pec strain, followed his two for 37 in Kent’s first innings with three for 37 in the second.
Most importantly, he got 27 overs under his belt to move closer to his belated first-team bow for the Bears following his winter move from Gloucestershire.
Norwell’s performance was one of several encouraging displays from the Bears in an entertaining and competitive match. Their first innings 362 for eight included 97 from Dan Mousley and 77 from Matt Lamb. After Kent replied with 235 for seven, it was the turn of Alex Oxley (53) and Aaron Thomason (52) to register half-centuries in the second innings.
Left a target of 361 on the final day, Kent chased it hard but were dismissed for 325. Norwell removed three top-five batsmen, including both openers, before trialist seamer James Cox worked his way through the lower order for five for 51.
