Spectators who attended NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day at Edgbaston in 2017 have ranked it as the best in the 15-year history of the tournament, which has led to a huge increase in the demand for tickets of this year’s event.
With a record crowd of 24,426 in attendance, Finals Day 2017 received its best match day experience score of 8.8 out of 10, in a post-event survey completed by ticket purchasers. Within this, the event also received its highest score for atmosphere, which was ranked at 9.4 out of 10.
We’ve seen a 170 per cent increase in demand for tickets for this year’s event* and could even sell out before the group stages of the tournament get underway in July.
Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director
Gareth Roberts, Commercial Director at Warwickshire County Cricket Club, said: “Finals Day is one of the biggest days in the British sporting calendar and is growing in popularity each year.
“Despite Birmingham Bears narrowly missing out in the final to Notts Outlaws, Finals Day 2017 was one of the best cricket days that Edgbaston has ever hosted, with more than 1,000 runs scored, a record attendance and best ever match day experience score. Who could also forget the sing off between Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd, with Freddie taking a tumble in-front of the Eric Hollies Stand in full voice to Sweet Caroline.
“In response to Finals Day 2017, we’ve seen a 170 per cent increase in demand for tickets for this year’s event* and could even sell out before the group stages of the tournament get underway in July. We recommend that fans book as soon as possible to avoid missing out.”
Edgbaston will host T20 Blast Finals Day for the tenth time on Saturday 15 September 2018, with more than 13,000 tickets already sold and limited availability in most parts of the stadium.
