England take on India in the first Specsavers Test Match of the summer at Edgbaston. With the Test scheduled to start on Wednesday 1 August, hospitality packages for all days are still available- though spaces are getting extremely limited.
We are now delighted to confirm our guest speakers are former English bowler Monty Panesar and former Indian wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer.
Monty Panesar
Born in Luton, Panesar was described as ‘the best finger spinner in the world’ by former England head coach Duncan Fletcher. Starting and ending his career at Northamptonshire with spells at Sussex and Essex in between, Patel was first selected for England in 2006 and took 167 Test wickets in 50 matches. The left-hander was part of the Ashes winning side of 2009 and 2010-11 as well as winning Wisden Cricket of the Year in 2007.
Farokh Engineer
Farokh played 46 Tests for India, and he played first-class cricket for Bombay in India from 1959 to 1975 and for Lancashire in England from 1968 to 1976. His active international career started in 1961 and continued to 1975, and he was India’s first-choice wicket-keeper for most of that period, keeping wicket for the spin quartet of Bedi, Prasanna, Chandrasekhar and Venkataraghavan. He was also a highly useful, stylish and very aggressive batsman, scoring two Test centuries. He was Indian Cricket Cricketer of the Year in 1965 and he was awarded the Padma Shri in 1973. He is currently a match referee in the Indian Premier League.
Both of these speakers will make appearances in our 1882 and Warwickshire suite. Monty will be speaking for Days 1 & 2, and Farokh will be Days 1-3. These packages are completely SOLD OUT for day 1, but there are spaces available in both areas on Day 2. Day 3, there are a few spaces left in 1882.
