BEARS IN THE COMMUNITY
The season is approaching fast and the Birmingham Bears are hard at work preparing for their first match against Worcestershire on Friday 27th May.
We’re really excited about this coming season and are looking forward to welcoming many of you into the stadium to cheer on the Bears. This season there will be plenty of opportunities for you to get involved here at Edgbaston and make your experience even more exciting.
Every Friday night throughout the season, our friends at the Warwickshire Cricket Board (WCB) will be providing free cricket sessions for young people from the local area. These sessions will be delivered in a fun and exciting way, encouraging young people to get involved in the game, no matter their level of ability.
This season we would love to continue this trend and are excited to announce that all Under-16s can cheer on the Bears for free at all our home games.

Thanks to our partner Selco Building Warehouse, we have produced 1,000 plastic cricket bats to increase opportunities for people in the local community to play the game. Look out for sessions around the stadium this summer, come and join in and walk away with a bat!
Last season saw a record number of Under-16s come through the gates at Edgbaston to show their support to the Birmingham Bears and be inspired by some fantastic cricket. This season we would love to continue this trend and are excited to announce that all Under-16s can cheer on the Bears for free at all our home games. We hope to inspire a new generation of cricket lovers, helping to boost participation in the sport across Birmingham and Warwickshire and build lifelong Bears fans.
The excitement of a match-day here at Edgbaston is like no other, yet for a special group of young people at each match, there is a fantastic opportunity to get closer to the action and experience all that Edgbaston has to offer from a unique viewpoint.
At each Birmingham Bears game at Edgbaston, the team will walk out through a guard of honour, made up of young people from local schools/cricket clubs. The children then have the opportunity to walk around the pitch during the interval and, following the game, meet members of the team and secure that all important signature/selfie.
As a thank you for the continued support throughout the season, Birmingham Bears are pleased to announce that the Cash for Clubs initiative that debuted last season, is returning! For every adult ticket bought to a home Birmingham Bears game, £3 will be returned to local recreational cricket through the hundreds of clubs that play on a regular basis.
Each club can register their interest in the scheme with the Bears and enjoy watching the money roll in as they show their support at Edgbaston.
Ever wanted to know how fast you can bowl, or how accurate you can throw? We’ve developed a unique bowling cage that will be available to use at each of the Birmingham Bears home matches. Prove how much faster you are than your mates, or how you’d be able to knock down that middle stump from 10 metres away.
