Lancashire Lightning 2nd XI v Birmingham Bears 2nd XI at Sale C.C. 28 April 2016
Match 1
Lancashire Lightning 65-5 (11.4 overs) Match abandoned
Lancashire Lightning 1 point Birmingham Bears 1 point
Winning the toss and batting at Sale Cricket Club, Lancashire lost their skipper Reece in the first over of the day, caught by wicketkeeper Mellor off Hannon-Dalby without scoring.
New batsman Bailey joined the other opener, Clark but despite one maximum, fired back a return catch to Jones when on eleven in the fourth over.
The introduction of Poysden into the attack proved too much for the home side as he claimed three wickets for just eight runs from 16 deliveries. Jones four and Guest five went to catches from Coleman and Evans while Lamb was bowled for just two.
Much to the Bears’ disappointment and with ever darkening skies, Lancashire 65-5 on Lamb’s dismissal, were unable to continue, as the rain got progressively stronger, resulting in a decision to abandon the first match with each side taking a point.
Match 2
Match abandoned without a ball bowled
Lancashire Lightning 1 point Birmingham Bears 1 point
The rain that had prevented a conclusion to the first match continued into the afternoon, resulting in the second match being abandoned without a ball being bowled.
