Warwickshire and Derbyshire were thwarted in their push for Royal London One-Day Cup North Group points when their match was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Edgbaston.
Play always looked unlikely following the thunderstorms which hit Birmingham yesterday, causing flash flooding in some areas.
There was standing water on the outfield at Edgbaston in mid-morning today and as further drizzle continued to fall, prevent any drying of the grass, the match was abandoned following a 2pm inspection by the umpires.
The washout leaves Derbyshire still unbeaten in a North Group table which remains extremely tight, with all still to play for with the rain having bitten so deeply into the early games.
