Moseley’s Alex Thomson continued his club cricket form with a bat and ball contribution. Put into bat by Kenilworth Wardens, the home side were bowled out for 160 with Thomson, coming in at 24/4, firing 59 off 99 (7 4s 1 6) before being run-out. The knock was vital with Kenilworth stumbling 113/8, before Thomson (9.1-1-30-2) took the final two wickets to secure a home victory by 35 runs.
Josh Poydsen and George Panayi went head-to-ahead as Shrewsbury beat Barnt Green by 148 runs. Choosing to bat first, Shrewsbury made 270/8 with Panayi getting 10 not out and Poysden bowling 10 overs for 58. In their response, the visitors were bowled out for 122 with Poysden top scoring with 46 off 47 (3 4s 1 6).
Sunny Singh featured for Smethwick who fell 19 runs short at Knowle and Dorridge. Electing to field first, the hosts made 237/7 with Singh finishing with excellent figures of 10-1-39-2 and looked to be decent strides in their response at 54/2. But with wickets falling and Singh caught on 17 off 24, Smethwick were unable to chase.
Elsewhere, Andy Umeed made 66 not out (10 4s 1 6) and took two catches in W.B Dartmouth’s five wicket win over Berkswell, whilst Alex Mellor scored 12 off 24 (2 4s) as Walsall chased down Dorridge’s 192 target.
In the Second Division there were runs for Aaron Thomason and Liam Banks.
Thomason, who came in at four and didn’t bowl, fired 35 off 24 (4 5s 1 6) to help Bromsgrove defeat Shifnal by 34 runs. Banks meanwhile opened the batting for Tamworth and made 48 off 48 (7 4s) to secure an 82 run win over Bridgnorth.
