Warwickshire's top three of Dom Sibley, Ed Pollock and Sam Hain all make 50 as the Bears chase 316.

Warwickshire followed up Friday’s six-wicket victory over Somerset with a closely fought three-wicket win over rivals Worcestershire.

Choosing to bat first, Worcestershire, led by Daryl Mitchell (65 runs off 57 balls), reached a solid total of 315 for seven, setting up an intriguing chase.

The Bears reached 107 for one and 217 for four with Ed Pollock (57), Dominic Sibley (50) and Sam Hain (60) reaching half centuries, but late wickets set-up an interesting finish.

Needing 30 runs off 30 balls, Warwickshire got it to five runs of six balls and it was completed with two balls to spare as Matt Lamb found a gap towards the deep midwicket to run three.

Playing 12 with Sam Pearce only bowling, Warwickshire made four changes from the Somerset win 24 hours prior with Tim Ambrose, Matt Lamb, Craig Miles and Tom Milnes, replacing Alex Mellor, George Panayi, Ryan Sidebottom and Olly Hannon-Dalby.

Worcestershire, whose top five all made 25, reached 175 at the 30-over mark only three down with Milnes removing Rikki Wessels (25), Thomson trapping Fell LBW (33) and Miles bowling Dell (52).

The Pears looked to accelerate and a fourth wicket partnership of 76 between Mitchell and D’Oliveira were followed by two strong partnerships of 35 (Mitchell and Cox) and 51 (Mitchell and Barnard).

Mitchell would retire not out, but a 34 run cameo off 24 balls from number seven Ross Whiteley set-up an excellent afternoon of cricket.

Warwickshire’s opening pair of Pollock and Sibley immediately took advantage of the powerplay reaching 79 without loss.

Pollock would reach 57 off 34 balls (seven fours, two sixes) before being trapped LBW by Twohig and the Worcestershire left-armer struck twice more removing Sibley (six fours, one six) and Hain (four fours).

Hose (21 off 25), Rhodes (17 off 24) and Ambrose (0) would all follow leaving the Bears on 237 for six before a run a ball 32 from Liam Banks helped the batting side reach 283 for seven.

Needing 34 runs off 34 balls, Alex Thomson joined Lamb who together edged the total closer to the target.

From wanting 30 runs from 30 balls, to 12 runs from 12 balls, the pair struck occasional boundaries around a number of singles to need five off the last over.

Pat Brown was chosen to bowl and Lamb and Thomson both took singles between a dot ball to need three from three, before Lamb cleared his hips to reach the total with just two balls remaining.
