The Bears play their final pre-season friendly in Abu Dhabi before heading home Saturday morning.

Day Three

Any expectation of a clear result faded early as both sides opted to use their allotted overs to get valuable time in the middle over the last two days.

The Bears reached 155 from 99 for five in the first 25 overs of the day with Craig Miles and Adam Hose both top scoring on 29.

In Somerset’s reply, they reached 240 for four with hands shaken ten overs early.

Nine bowlers bowled during the afternoon with Craig Miles, Ryan Sidebottom and Sam Pearce taking the wickets and Marcus Trescothick retiring hurt.

Day Two

Somerset, who started the day on 94 for three, were bowled out for 232 and continued to bat, reaching 5 for three, before declaring in the 68th over when Alex Thomson trapped James Hildreth LBW for one.

It was a strong 50 over spell for the Warwickshire bowlers as they were restricted the Taunton side to just 143 runs, whilst taking ten wickets.

The dismissals were evenly spread with Oliver Hannon-Dalby, George Panayi, Alex Thomson and Craig Miles – who also took a brilliant run out – all taking three wickets and Tom Milnes taking the other two.

With four overs remaining, the Bears finished on 99 for five, showcasing the difficult batting conditions.

Adam Hose batted finely for his 29 (three fours), whilst Sam Hain remains on 24* off 93 balls.

On day three, Warwickshire will bat the first 25 overs with Matt Lamb (12 off 18 with three fours) joining Hain before Somerset take over.

Day One

Warwickshire led a challenging day with the bat as they faced Somerset in a three-day friendly in Abu Dhabi.

With each day consisting of 90 overs, it was agreed between both sides that the Bears would bat the first 70 overs and field the extra 20.

Somerset however took advantage of the conditions, reducing Warwickshire to 44 for four after fourteen overs.

Warwickshire’s middle order dug deep as Matt Lamb top scored with 32 off 87 balls and Adam Hose (24), Tim Ambrose (27) and Henry Brookes (21) all passing 20, but England spinner Jack Leach wrapped up the tail with three wickets leaving Warwickshire all out on 161 and ten overs left.

First innings not out batsman Ryan Sidebottom soon departed leaving openers Dom Sibley and Will Rhodes to see out the remaining balls, finishing on 14/1.

In their reply, Somerset reached 94 for three with James Hildreth, who was eventually bowled by Alex Thomson, top scoring with 24 runs off 32 balls.

Oliver Hannon-Dalby picked up the other two wickets of Marcus Trescothick (13) and Eddie Byrom (11).

Tom Abell (22*) and George Bartlett (6*) will resume tomorrow morning as Somerset bat the first 50 overs.
