The Edgbaston Foundation is making a final call to Bears fans and local residents who would like to donate non-perishable food items to support local food banks and community groups in need.
In partnership with the charity Thrive Together Birmingham, Bears fans and local residents have been donating food at the nearby St. Mary and Saint Ambrose Church, on Raglan Road, every Friday before being stored and repackaged at Edgbaston’s Exhibition Hall and then distributed on to local food banks and community groups.
Six weeks on from opening the community food hub as part of the Edgbaston Foundation’s and Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s response to COVID-19, between 11am and 2pm tomorrow is the last chance to donate food at St. Mary and Saint Ambrose Church as Edgbaston steps up its operations to reopening in early July.
Ravi Masih, Head of Community Engagement at Warwickshire CCC and lead of the Edgbaston Foundation, said: “We’ve had a phenomenal response from Club supporters and local residents who have donated more than 8.5 tonne of items worth over £32k, which we have subsequently repackaged for delivery to those in need.
“Whether it’s shower gel or soup, we would love to finish our operation with a bumper day of donations.

“It’s been a fantastic project to work on over the last six weeks and we are already having conversations with Thrive Together Birmingham to identify new ways of providing support later in the year.”
To make donations of food and toiletries, please drop off non-perishable items at St. Mary and Saint Ambrose Church, on Raglan Road, between 11am and 2pm on Friday 19 June. Please note that no donations can be made at Edgbaston.
