Report: Bears v Steelbacks, Second XI T20
Dan Mousley and Sam Hain stared with the bat as the Bears 2nd XI enjoyed double-header delight against Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground.
Put into bat in game one, Mousley struck 48 (29 balls, three sixes, three fours) to help the Bears reach a healthy 194/8.
In reply, Northants reached 151/9 from their twenty overs with wickets shared between five bowlers. Carlos Brathwaite was the most impressive, finishing with figures of 4 for 23, to give the Bears a comfortable 43-run victory.
In game two, the visitors made 170/9, with wickets again distributed throughout the bowling attack. Craig Miles took 4 for 23, whilst Liam Norwell, Ryan Sidebottom and George Garrett all picked up a pair of wickets.
The Bears reply started on the front foot with openers Ed Pollock (31) and Pieter Malan (49) putting on 58 within five overs.
With the Bears ahead of the run rate, Hain – batting third – added 57 (37 balls, three fours, three sixes) to within touching distance of the 171 target.
Ethan Brookes and Chris Benjamin saw the Bears home with 17 balls to spare to finish with a six-wicket victory.
