Edgbaston Stadium has renewed its Official Energy Partnership with Haven Power, which ensures that the iconic Birmingham venue will continue to be powered by 100 per cent renewable sources.
Haven Power and Warwickshire CCC began their supply partnership in late 2018 as part of the stadium’s ambition to be the greenest and most sustainable cricket venue in the United Kingdom.
The partnership has developed to secure a three-year renewal, which will give Haven Power the opportunity to maximise opportunities associated with Edgbaston’s extended 21-day programme of Major Match Cricket across the period.
Ben Seifas, Commercial Partnerships Manager at Edgbaston Stadium, said: “We’ve made good progress on our sustainability goals in recent years by having a clear focus on reducing our carbon footprint and by minimising waste in our stadium operations.
“Working with Haven Power to ensure that we are completely powered through renewable sources has played a big part. We’re committed to building on this and working with our fellow commercial partners on sustainable opportunities, and with our energy consultants Amber Energy to identify ways in which we can make further efficiencies in our consumption.”

The three-year partnership agreement will give Haven Power dedicated branding on Edgbaston’s five unique e-shaped floodlights as well as within the stadium bowl. The agreement also secures match day hospitality and a business conference to be staged in Edgbaston’s function suites in each of the three years.
Rob Milloy, Sales Director, Drax Customers, said: “Edgbaston Cricket Ground’s decision to renew its partnership with Haven Power is a testament to the quality of service provided and our collaborative approach to delivering businesses with zero carbon solutions. Since making the move to Haven Power three years ago we have supplied the ground with more than 3.8 GWh of renewable electricity, enough to power more than 1,000 UK homes for a year, helping the team there to meet their sustainability goals.”
Edgbaston Stadium unveiled its Pledge in 2019 to support its goal of becoming the most sustainable cricket venue in the United Kingdom.
Operational changes have included the installation of public water fountains around the venue, compostable food and drink packaging and even the development of Warwickshire and Birmingham Bears playing and replica shirts, produced by PlayerLayer, which are made of a bamboo-mix material.
