First Team Coach Mark Robinson says he was proud of his side as Warwickshire chased down 333 on the final day to claim a famous win at Trent Bridge.
Tim Bresnan led the way with an unbeaten 68, sharing a stand of 113 with England fast bowler Olly Stone (43), as Warwickshire chased down the target to win by three wickets despite England opener Dominic Sibley being unable to bat because of a broken finger.
Sam Hain (57) and Matt Lamb (50) both hit half-centuries on a memorable day after captain Will Rhodes had scored 44 on the day previous to set up a thrilling chase on the Sunday.
“All we spoke about what was to chase it down in little chunks,” Robinson said. “Bresnan spoke brilliantly to the boys this morning about what our targets are and can we take the game as deep as we can.
“Sibley was ready to go. He had extra padding on his glove and when we needed less than 50 to win he would have gone in, thankfully we didn’t need him. He said he’s never been that nervous in his life.
“We had people in different places watching and we probably had people celebrating in three different parts of the ground, that’s one thing about COVID you’re not as close as usual. But we came together at the end to celebrate what was a famous victory.”
