The Midlands branch of the Cricket Society welcomes John Holder as the speaker for its next meeting at Edgbaston on Tuesday 18 January – 2pm start.
Having enjoyed a playing career with Hampshire as a right-arm seam bowler, Holder became a First Classs umpire in 1983 and officiated in his first Test match 1988.
He stood as umpire in 11 Test matches and 19 One Day Internationals in his international career and was appointed by the ICC as one of five worldwide regional umpires’ performance managers, responsible for monitoring and improving the performances of umpires in Europe, the Caribbean, America and Canada.
Holder retired at the end of the 2009 season after 27 years as a first-class umpire and has since published the book ‘You are the Umpire’ with artist Paul Trevillion.
Warwickshire Members, Friends and Guests are very welcome to attend but are asked to support the raffle.
