Report: Bears v Somerset, Second XI T20
Bears rounded off an excellent week of T20 warm-ups with a thrilling two-wicket 2nd XI win over Somerset at Portland Road.
Somerset batted first and made a solid 169 for five. Their batters were inconvenienced most by young fast bowler Che Simmons who delivered 4-0-19-2 while Olly Hannon-Dalby bowled well for 4-0-25-0.
The Bears then made a flying start to their reply with 40 from the first 18 balls before losing Rob Yates (18 from six balls).
His opening partner Matt Lamb motored to 50 (24 balls) to keep the Bears up with the required rate before Ethan Brookes (34 not out, 31 balls) saw them over the line to 171 for eight with eight balls to spare. Manny Johal added vital late impetus with 17 from 13 balls.
