Thursday 7 April will see not only the launch of Warwickshire's LV= Insurance County Championship title defence but also the start of a brand new Lunch with Legends series for spectators at Edgbaston.
At each championship home game this season a distinguished former Bear will be guest of honour at a Q&A during one of the lunch intervals.
In conversation with Bears club journalist Brian Halford in the Tom Dollery Lounge the special guest will chat about links and games with the opposition in that particular match…and anything else that spring to mind! He will also take questions from the floor and it promises to be great fun – we know from the live webchats with former Bears that we hosted during lockdown that these guys make fantastic guests.
Our first guest, on Thursday, the opening day of the Surrey game, will be Jason Ratcliffe who played with distinction for both the Bears and Surrey and remains a regular visitor to Edgbaston and passionate member of Warwickshire Old County Cricketers Association.

On Saturday 23 April, the Essex game, our guest will be Asif Din who will chat about the many wonderful games in which he was involved for the Bears. Among them he will recall the 1988 championship game between the sides at Edgbaston when he was standing at short leg when Aussie great Allan Border took a Tony Merrick lifter on the hand. A.B turned the air blue, went off for treatment and returned to score a brilliant century.
On Saturday 14 May, for the visit of Northamptonshire, Tim Munton will join us to reflect upon, among other things, the 1995 championship match between the Bears and Northants at Edgbaston, one of the most pulsating first class games in the history of the club.
Then on Sunday 12 June, the Lancashire game, our guest will be the great Dennis Amiss who hundredth first-class hundred was scored against the Red Rose in 1986.
