Mark Robinson shared an honest assessment of his side's performance against Somerset.
The Bears headed to Taunton in a bullish mood, having been unbeaten in red-ball cricket in five games, but a tough opening first day with in the field put the the team on the back foot throughout.
“We were well beaten and outplayed for three days,” said Robinson. “We’ll just get on the bus and go home as there’s not a lot to say.
“Credit to Somerset, because as poor as we were they were outstanding. It was a good toss to win, but Matt Renshaw played well and that was a lot of runs on that wicket.
“It was probably a 280-320 wicket and they’ve got too many, but equally it’s not a 70 for 5 wicket, so we’ve got to be good enough to repel.
“It’s not for lack of effort or work rate, it’s just that sometimes our skill acquisition isn’t where we need it to be at this point.”
