Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace hailed a stunning final day to the 2023 season saying "this is what county cricket is all about."
It was another dramatic final day to the LV= Insurance County Championship season. Last year, the Bears were celebrating their eighth County Championship title and this time produced a stunning performance, led by nine for 62 from Liam Norwell, to confirm Division One cricket for next season.
Farbrace, who will be leaving the Club this winter, took the opportunity after the conclusion of the campaign to thank all Bears Members and fans for their support this year and throughout his time at Edgbaston.
“We can see how much county cricket means to our Members and fans, and we hope you all can see how much having that fantastic support means to us and our players,” Farbrace said speaking to Members after the final day of the season on Thursday.
“Thank you very much for your support. This is your Club, this is what it’s about afternoons like this. Last year it was the final wicket to win the Championship, the final wicket this time to stay in Division One.
“We can see, coaches, players, members of staff, what it meant. It’s your passion and you turn up time and time again and support these players whoever they are. We will change but you are the constant.
“Thank you for your support and keep supporting county cricket because, as you can see, it’s a brilliant game.”
