Fixtures for the 2023 season have been announced – and Bears fans are set for a summer to remember with a packed calendar of cricket.

The action starts on Thursday 6 April when Warwickshire travel to Somerset to open the team’s LV= Insurance County Championship campaign.

It’s followed by Championship home fixtures against Kent and Surrey – starting on Thursday 13 and Thursday 27 April, respectively – which means supporters will be able to see both games come to a weekend climax.

The 2023 Vitality Blast competition will launch in spectacular style with Blast Off, a new double-header fixture at Edgbaston on Saturday 20 May that will see Derbyshire Falcons take on Lancashire Lightning before the Bears evening clash against Yorkshire Vikings.

This will be followed by our Bank Holiday Family Fun Day against Lancashire Lightning on Monday 29 May and tickets for this match will be available from only £10.

There’s another double-header at Edgbaston on Saturday 3 June when Central Sparks play Southern Vipers in the Charlotte Edwards Cup ahead of the Bears match-up against Notts Outlaws.

And a date that will be inked into many Bears fans’ diaries is Friday 23 June when local rivals Worcestershire Rapids arrive at Edgbaston. Fans can register now to get priority access to tickets at the best prices, which will go on sale in February, online at edgbaston.com/bears.

Club Captain Will Rhodes said: “Fixtures release date is always a big day in the calendar for players and fans alike. All eyes are now turning towards the new season and the excitement will start building over the coming weeks and months.

“There’s obviously dates we all look for like Worcestershire Rapids here at Edgbaston where we always get an amazing crowd and the atmosphere is electric.

“But this year we’ve also got the new Blast Off which is set to be an occasion to rival Finals Day, more big Blast games on Friday evening and Saturdays, plus a packed calendar of county and One-Day Cup fixtures.

“The lads can’t wait to get started.”

Birmingham is fast becoming a hotbed for women’s cricket following last summer’s Commonwealth Games. And fans can catch their first Central Sparks’ action of next season on Saturday 22 April away to East Midlands rivals The Blaze at Trent Bridge in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

A week later on Saturday 29 April, the Sparks are again in T20 action at their regional home at New Road versus Northern Diamonds before taking centre stage at Edgbaston on Tuesday 23 May against Northern Diamonds.

And August is set to be a packed month of one-day cricket with eight league games coming thick and fast over 18 days.

The One-Day Cup starts with a trip to Somerset on Friday 4 August before an opening home 50-over fixture against Gloucester on Monday 7 August.

The final game of the season sees Warwickshire at home to Somerset in the Championship from Tuesday 26 September – and the potential for some more last day drama.

Members and Season Pass holders can claim their free Blast Off ticket, which gives access to both games, by logging-in to their online account.

Fans can register to get priority access to tickets at the best prices for Blast Off, starting from £25 for adults and £5 for under 16s, online at edgbaston.com/blastoff.
