Edgbaston Community Sports Ground will host at least 27 days of Warwickshire cricket as the Second XI fixtures are formally announced.
Affectionally known as Portland Road, the facility will showcase the Second XI Championship, Second XI T20 and two 50 over fixtures against SACA (South Asian Cricket Academy).
In the Championship, the Bears will start a large portion of their season on the road with a home fixture against Somerset (17-21 April) sandwiched between trips to Essex (Billericay), Surrey (Guildford) and Worcestershire (Kidderminster).
Last season, Warwickshire secured five wins from nine matches, finishing just 1.25 average points behind top spot in fourth and with, four of their five remaining matches at home, they will be hoping for a strong end to the season.
During the T20 campaign, the side will play ten fixtures in total with five at home, including a double-header against Northants. Ending their season just one point shy of a semi-final berth, the Bears will be aiming to go one better with an attractive Finals Day trip to the picturesque Wormsley.
“With our Second XI fixtures confirmed, the season certainly feels a lot closer,” said First Team Coach Mark Robinson.
“Second XI fixtures offer opportunity to not only our younger players who are looking to make a mark in the game, but our experienced group who need extra time in the middle.
“I always look to pop down to the Edgbaston Community Sports Ground when I can throughout the season and it’s a fantastic facility. I look forward to seeing many Members and supporters enjoying their cricket away from Edgbaston.”
