Homegrown all-rounder Dan Mousley has signed a new contract extension to ensure his future remains at Edgbaston.

The Warwickshire-born 21-year-old will remain a Bear until at least the end of the 2025 campaign.

A product of Nether Whitacre Cricket Club and a Bablake School student, Mousley has been a part of Warwickshire’s Performance Pathway since the age of eight.

Signing his first professional contract in May 2019, the right-arm spin bowler and left-handed bat secured an extension a year later after a campaign that contributed 250 runs across all formats.

In total, the leading run scorer for England at the 2020 ICC Under 19s World Cup, has made 25 appearances for the Bears in all formats, firing 782 runs, and taking seven wickets.

“Warwickshire means so much to me and I’m thrilled to have extended my stay,” said Mousley. “Since arriving as a young boy in the Edgbaston Cricket Centre, it was always my dream to play for the Bears at Edgbaston.

“But having done that, I’m now ready to push on and take my game to another level. Being a part of the 2021 squad, which won the County Championship and Bob Willis Trophy, was amazing and I want to help the Club add more trophies over the next few years.”

First Team Coach Mark Robinson is confident he’ll continue to make a big impact at Edgbaston.

“Dan is an exciting talent and we’re delighted he’s committed his future to the Bears,” said Robinson. “Dan will be looking to establish himself in all-formats, having shown the ability to do so over the last few years, and I’m looking forward to working with him to establish his goals over the next few years.”

Scoring 166 runs with a strike rate of 178.49 in the 2022 Vitality Blast, Mousley has continued to gain valuable experience in the short form game.

Playing for Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred, Dan was selected for the International League T20 this winter, taking a starring role for MI Emirates.

“Last year was a really good year for me,” added Mousley. “I love playing T20 and the atmosphere our fans create at Edgbaston is incredible.

“We played some excellent cricket last year and the additions of Moeen Ali, Hassan Ali and Glenn Maxwell are exciting. I know the whole squad is desperate to go one step further and reach Finals Day.”
