Warwickshire Captain Will Rhodes is confident that the recent bad weather hasn't put a stop to his side's preparations.
The Bears head to Taunton on Thursday looking to start the season on high following last season’s dramatic finale.
But whilst the weather – the wettest March in 40 years – has halted grounds up and down the country, Edgbaston has continued to remain open thanks to the hardworking greenstaff.
That valiant effort could be the extra edge the Bears need in the south west.
“We’ll find out on Thursday, but I think everyone’s ready,” said Rhodes who will be leading the side for the fourth consecutive season. “I think everyone knows how ready they need to be as they’ve got what they needed to get out of the last few weeks. South Africa was a real good marker for us to see where we were in comparison to Yorkshire, who just went down, and we played some really good cricket.
“Somerset play the game the right way. They’re good lads off the field, but on the field, they’re ruthless and want to get on top of you. We’ve always had some good battles and you know what you’re going to get. It’s never going to be an easy game.”
