Edgbaston Events hosts first Safe Meeting since re-opening

Edgbaston Events has successfully held its first Safe Meeting since re-opening.

Edgbaston Events have worked hard to put a comprehensive series of measures in place in response to COVID-19, allowing the stadium to welcome back small meetings and events for the first time since April.

To support this, we launched our Safe Meetings & Events which are delivered inline with Our Promise, our six-point plan to offer reassurance to all delegates on the safety of the venue.

In order to ensure the reintroduction of events to Edgbaston, in a safe environment, the Edgbaston Events team have undergone full training on new socially distant operational procedures, contact-free catering, hybrid events and have been provided with PPE tailored to their role.

Additionally, a one-way system has been implemented around the venue and sanitising stations have been placed throughout.

With all new measures now in place, Edgbaston Events were delighted to welcome the Birmingham Association of School Business Management back to the stadium to host our first Safe Meeting since re-opening.

The event organiser, Diane Hennessy, said “We recently held our first socially distanced face-to-face meeting at Edgbaston Stadium and we were incredibly impressed with the systems and procedures that have been put in place to safeguard visitors and staff.

“There are ample hand sanitising stations throughout the venue and superb social distance signage in key areas throughout the building.

“It was obvious that all members of staff have received comprehensive COVID-19 Health and Safety Training and we were given a comprehensive brief about the various safety measures and food service arrangements at the beginning of our meeting.

“The new boxed meals were superb, as was the service that we received from every member of staff that looked after us throughout the day.”

Edgbaston’s Head of Stadium Operations, Claire Daniel, commented: “A lot of work has gone into preparing Edgbaston to re-open its doors and host events again safely, and we’re delighted to see the return of guests to the venue.

“We have worked hard over the last few months to ensure all measures were in place to allow us to host conferences and events again at Edgbaston within a safe, secure and comfortable environment.

“We want to provide delegates with reassurance that their event is held safely when they book at Edgbaston, while still maintaining the high standards of service and quality which we have become renowned for.”

Our events teams are now taking bookings for any meeting or event, subject to our updated room capacities which follow the UK Government’s guidance on social distancing.
