Report: Sam Hain and Craig Miles impress in first Bears outing at Edgbaston
Sam Hain scored a fantastic 144 to help Warwickshire reach 327 for 13 from their full day of 90 overs.
Coming in at three, the 23-year-old took 248 balls to reach his impressive figure before being trapped LBW by Josh Tongue.
Hain was supported by Tim Ambrose (41), Alex Mellor (11) and Liam Banks (43*), leading to partnerships of 84, 57 and 62.
Craig Miles, who took six wickets for 30 on day one, struck 27 runs off 37 balls before being bowled by Pat Brown.
Following two days of red ball cricket, the two sides will now contest a 50-over white ball match.
Play starts at 10.30am with supporters able to gain free entry in the Tom Dollery Members’ Lounge.
Craig Miles impressed on his Edgbaston return as Warwickshire took 13 Worcestershire wickets in 90 overs.
After choosing to split the three-day friendly into two 90-over red ball practice days and a white ball 50-over match, the visitors reached 383 for 13.
Miles, who showed his quality for Gloucestershire in the championship against the Bears at Edgbaston in August last year when his five-for included the rare feat of dismissing Ian Bell and Jonathan Trott in the same over, took six wickets for just nine runs in his first spell, which included eight maidens.
The 24-year-old ended with figures of 13-8-30-6, dismissing Daryl Mitchell, Brett D’Oliveira, Alex Milton, Ed Barnard, Charlie Morris and Pat Brown.
Aaron Thomason was another to impress, removing Mitchell who returned to the crease, Ross Whiteley, Tom Fell and Josh Dell for figures of 14-0-69-4.
Henry Brookes (Rikki Wessels) and Alex Thomson (D’Oliveira and Josh Tongue) picked up the other wickets.
Whiteley (86 off 77 balls) and Milton (53 off 94 balls) top scored for the Pears, who will now field for the whole of tomorrow’s play.
Ambrose, Banks, Brookes, Hain, Hose, Lamb, Mellor, Miles, Milnes, Panayi, Sidebottom, Thomason and Thomson.
