Second XI T20 Report: Bears v Outlaws
Matt Lamb struck two unbeaten half-centuries as Birmingham Bears won one and tied one of their back-to-back 2nd XI T20 friendlies against Notts Outlaws at Barnt Green.
The Bears won the first game by 36 runs after piling up 215 for five with Adam Hose hitting 79 (45 balls, eight fours, four sixes) and Lamb an unbeaten 70 (44 balls, nine fours, two sixes) in a partnership of 129 from 72 balls.
Three catches from Hose then set the Outlaws’ reply back early on and from 35 for three they never seriously threatened their target. The visitors were all out for 179 in 17.5 overs with George Panayi taking three for 35, Dan Douthwaite two for 13, Alex Thomson two for 22 and Sunny Singh two for 33.
Singh and Panayi were then among the wickets again in the second game in which Notts batted first. The Outlaws were all out for 164 with Singh taking three for 27, Panayi two for 21 and Aaron Thomason three for 28.
In reply, the Bears struggled to 19 for three but then Lamb underpinned a recovery with 73 (55 balls, four fours, four sixes). Support came from Thomason (27, 26 balls) and Douthwaite (26, 15 balls) but when Douthwaite was caught off the last ball of the innings from Mark Foottit the scores ended level with the match tied.
