Second XI Report: Gloucestershire v Warwickshire
Manraj Johal took ten for 52 in the match as Warwickshire rounded off their 2nd XI Championship campaign in style as a side including three 15-year-olds beat Gloucestershire by ten wickets at Rockhampton.
Amir Khan, Hamza Shaikh and Umar Mohammed Shaikh, all 15, were in the team and the former two were at the crease when the Bears knocked off 27 without loss to complete victory with a day to spare.
The emphatic win was set up by solid batting in the first innings as the Bears totalled 277 thanks to Khan’s 65 (122 balls, ten fours) supported by Kishen Velani (44) and Ed Pollock (41).
Johal then took five for 15 to skittle Gloucestershire for 115 in their first innings and the young paceman added five for 37 in the second as the home side fared little better following on, making 188.
Johal ended with math figures of 18.3-3-52-10 and George Garrett and Ryan Sidebottom also tasted success, sharing six wickets in the match.
The Bears were left with just 27 to find second time round and Khan and Shaikh eased their side to victory in 9.3 overs.
