Second XI Trophy Report: Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire
Warwickshire completed a most emphatic Second XI Trophy win over Nottinghamshire today, easing to victory by nine wickets at the LadyBay Ground, Nottingham.
After a strong collective effort by the Bears’ bowlers saw the home side dismissed for 100, the small target was reached for the loss of just one wicket in 12.1 overs.
Spinners Josh Poysden (three for 24) and Alex Thomson (three for four) did most of the damage for the Bears after Olly Hannon-Dalby and Aaron Thomason had taken early wickets. Thomason went on to finish with two for 26 as Nottinghamshire were bowled out in 32.4 overs.
Liam Banks (45 not out, 34 balls, five fours) and Ed Pollock (42, 32 balls, six fours, two sixes) then made light work of the small target in a partnership of 89 in 59 balls to complete the Bears’ first win in this season’s competition.
The Bears 2nds are next in action away to Derbyshire at Hem Heath next week with a three-day game starting on Monday followed by a Second XI Trophy match on Thursday.
