Report: Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire, 2nd XI Championship
Rob Yates led the victory chase as Warwickshire beat Nottinghamshire by six wickets in the Second XI Championship in Nottingham.
Set a target of 175 at the Lady Bay Ground, the Bears were steered to 177 for five in just 36.5 overs by Yates’ measured 89 not out (105 balls), with support from Amir Khan (26) and Jake Bethell (33).
The Bears had had the better of the contest since bowling the home side out on the first day for 218. Olly Stone took four for 28 while spinners Jake Lintott and Bethell took two wickets apiece.
The Bears then replied with 324 (Stone 92, Matt Lamb 67) before Kent made 280 second time round, Jake Lintott taking three for 35 and Liam Norwell two for 47 to leave the Bears an attractive target with to which Yates skilfully steered them.
