Report: Warwickshire v South Asian Cricket Academy, Second XI 50-Over Friendly
Warwickshire 2nd XI completed an excellent week by beating South Asian Cricket Academy by eight wickets at Stratford CC.
Academy product Hamza Shaikh was the driving force with a brilliant unbeaten century (100, 79 balls, 12 fours, two sixes), when the Bears chased 230 for eight. Shaikh was supported by more explosive runs from Adam Hose. After scoring a blistering double century in the innings victory in the preceding four-day game between the sides, Hose blasted 90 (58 balls, 12 fours, three sixes) to send the Bears towards 231 for two in just 27.2 overs in the one-dayer.
Batting first, SACA were restricted by tight bowling led by Carlos Brathwaite (3-20) and George Garrett (2-29). Liam Norwell got another ten good overs under his belt for a return of one for 32.
The chase was then turned onto a formality by a partnership of 152 in 17 overs by Shaikh and Hose. After Hose departed, the former saw his side to victory with 22.4 overs to spare in alliance with Ethan Brookes (25 not out, 23 balls).
