Report: Bears v Cricket Wales, Women’s T20 - Match Two
Bears Women secured their first Vitality T20 match win of the campaign after defeating Cricket Wales by seven wickets.
Looking to respond to the their morning 11-run defeat, Bears Women come out comfortable winners, after a brilliant batting display by opener’s Issy Wong and Thea Brookes.
Batting first once again, Cricket Wales set the Bears a higher run chase (129) to the previous game of 126, but a composed chase saw Dom Ostler’s side home with 25 balls to spare.
An excellent partnership of 101 between Brookes and Wong put the hosts in charge, before Wong fell for 53 (33 balls, four fours, two sixes).
Brookes carried on her fine batting display alongside Bethan Ellis (before Ellis got out on seven), and Ria Frackell, before being trapped on 50 (42 balls, seven fours).
Frackell (who finished 13 not out from six balls), and stand in captain, Georgia Davis (who finished five not out from six balls) added the final runs.
Bears Women’s next double header in the Vitality T20 is against Somerset on Sunday 24th April at the Cooper Associates County Ground.
