On October 1st, Reuben Bishop, one of our Edgbaston Super 1’s, attended the Disability British Gymnastic Championships. The event was hosted at Lilleshall Sports Centre in Telford.
Competing against men 15 years his senior, Reuben competed in 6 apparatus and became British champion in High bar, won a silver medal in the rings and received an overall Bronze for his performance throughout the event.
We are so proud of Reuben- he is an amazing young man who clearly shows skill for performing! Whether it’s gymnastics or cricket, Reuben is a fantastic all round sportsman!

Along with showing his gymnastic and cricket skills, Reuben recently took part in Warwickshire’s first Super 1’s Residential Trip to Avon Tyrell in the New Forest. Along with 5 of his Super 1’s teammates Reuben kayaked, canoed and rock climbed while also getting social time and meeting participants from other counties.
Reuben continues to exceed our expectations and break down barriers. We are beyond proud of what he has achieved and truly thankful for the time and effort from his coaches and groups like Edgbaston super 1’s that provide Reuben and others with additional needs opportunities for inclusion and the ability to excel in sport that they love.
